I bought a Lowrance iWay 500c a few years back and got hooked on the GPS craze. I travel quite a bit for work, so it is really cool to have it in cities where I'm not quite comfortable just trying to find the way.

I recently sold the iWay and bought a TomTom for both myself and Catmint. It is much more portable and will actually run a couple of hours on battery, so you can jump in someone else's car without having to lug along the power cord. Another feature of the model I bought is map correction. You can actually add, edit or delete portions of roads and correct POI errors. You upload them back to TomTom and they publish them to anyone who wants to use them.

Just curious, for those that don't have the built-in NAV, what system are you using?

I have the Garmin 2720, I tested the Lowrance at night the Letters are alitte hard to read. The Garmin was better to read at night for me.

I would like to get the new Tom-Tom with the "Help Me" feature and the "Real Roads" but that's like two arms, a leg and 6 kidneys, unforttunately I only have two kidneys.

I use a Megellen unit that I find quite workable, she's not as up-to-date as I would like, but seeing as how the price was only 199, I'm not complaining.

My TomTom was $349 and Cindy's was $299. I tried a Garmin, but I had multiple problems with routing in Douglasville alone. I've had ZERO problems with the TomTom.

I just got a Garmin C330. Older, and cheap.....but it really does everything I need. I don't really care if it's the size of a deck of cards or not as it never leaves my car. I don't care about bluetooth capability or traffic reports either. I just need directions from time to time, and didn't want to spend a mint on a bunch of features I would use infrequently. And, for something I paid less that $300 for I am very happy.

I got the same GPS. No bells, no whistles but it gets me where I want to go. It's pretty reliable.
