I remember seeing a Henna Red BMW M1 when I was in Switzerland in 1989 at a Ferrari dealership. I was able to spend some time looking it over and falling in love with it. Its an amazing car. You might not know that Lamborghini built the cars for BMW. Here is a series of M1 photos that I just love. Have you ever seen a M1 in person?

Here are some more choice M1 shots! Enjoy my friends! Some of these M1s are race cars, and one of them is the ultra rare GTR race version.

There's a "high-end" used car dealer here in Toronto that has 2 (!) M1's on the floor; one is a former Pro-Drive car, which has been converted back to a street car, and its pretty rough. The other is a meticulously-restored garage queen (what a shame) that looks better then new. I'm trying desperately to have him put it on the road; my complaints of "keeping a thoroughbred locked in the barn" just don't seem to have much effect.
But Lord, its a honey!!
And yes, its red.
Be still my heart!!!!!

Wow can you tell us any more about the "rough" M1 for sale? I'd love to see some pics. I've wanted a M1 my whole life!!

Well, I'll try and get back down there with a camera. When I saw it last, he was "cobbling together" the interior, as it was pretty well stripped down for the ProDrive series. And it looked pretty sad.
He was trying to fit door panels and such from other wrecked cars, as there weren't any parts available. But to be fair, that was a year ago; I haven't been there in a while.
Stand by for an update.

What does a nice M1 usually go for these days?

The M1s are steadily going up in value. I have seen them priced from $65k-$150k. It all depends on condition, it's history and maintenance and such. They are sooo rare that you can ask $100k and get interest.
