What would be your opinion for loss of value on a 2007 335i that was rear-ended and has to have the bumper replaced?
I am sick!!!!!
We've only had the car a couple of months. I had the windshield chipped right after I got it and now this.
Thanks!

Thats a tough one. My girlfriend and I have the same issue. She was hit several weeks ago in her 04' Passat Wagon. They did over $8000 in repairs but is not and won't be the same. It won't look good on a carfax for sure. Now it will turn into a fight with the insurance company over the diminished value.

That's what kills me is the fact that even though the bumper will be replaced and probably will be 100% good as new, Carfax will show it as "wrecked" thereby causing it to be a "scary buy" for a potential buyer later on.
I'm just SICK over this.

Right, and were not sure how we are going to handle this yet either. I definitely feel for you on the 2007. I would have to beat the piss out of something!

Would it help to attach a note to the repair records giving the details of the accident? At least for a private party buyer, they may be more open-minded about hearing the details of a mishap that shows up on Carfax and then making the determination about whether or not it's really that big of a deal. I would be, anyway. But I guess it all depends on how long you're keeping the car and who you may sell it to someday.
Sorry for the accident, man. Hope it's good as new soon!
About 8% of MSRP would be about right.

OK first, CARFAX won't know if you don't report the accident to your insurance. See if the person who hit you is willing to pay for the damage outside of insurance. THEN get the car fixed properly. No ones rates go up, nothing on carfax. Carfax is primarily based on insurance data.
If its minor bumper damage, you can settle it without using insurance in most cases....that is if the person who hit you is honorable.
Also, I PM'd you a few weeks ago about finding you a windshield. I did find it for you, at dealer cost. All I need is your VIN # and I can get it for you immediately. PM me!
