KAAMAcat
01-04-2008, 08:46 PM
Honestly, as-long-as the sun is out............ you'll still get 50+ cars to show.

It seems like you almost need to get there before 9am to get a decent spot, and IMHO parking is a bit tight there. (Just seems the cars are parked closer in that lot for some reason)

(I'll be there in the white C4S.....leaving the Pantera home this month, along with some folks going down with me in a 308 Ferrari, Acura NSX, and Lotus Esprit.......and Mitch will probably show also......WONT YOU MITCH !)

1st Saturday of every month and it is called “CAFFEINE & OCTANE”. The location is:
THE AVENUE EAST COBB Shopping Center
4475 ROSWELL ROAD (GA-120), EAST COBB
(JUST EAST OF JOHNSON FERRY ROAD)

SATURDAY,1st of the month
8:30 TO 11:00 AM

The show is free and there is a Panera Bread in walking distance and a Starbucks nearby.

There are lots of American classic hot rods and late model (vettes, etc), a ton of Ferraris and Porsches and motorcycles. Several Lotus, some nice Pantera's, Maserati's, etc.

Turnout was a bit light but a lot of cool cars. The show ended a bit early due to rain. Really cool stainless/chrome Cobra came in. Also a Lambo Gallardo. Loved the black 62 vette too.

There were 4 of us with M5's parked together :beerchug::beerchug:
I included a couple crappy pics from my camera phone. 3 M5's together (mine is on the left), My son sitting in a Ferrari 328 (guy was really nice and offered to let him sit in it) and a pic of my new Magnaflows.

Meh. You can keep the douchbags and their exotics. I really like the old classy cars that show up. I saw a 192X Model A all original show up their once. That's the beauty of it is that you never know what is going to show up. But if you are into Lamborghini's, there are two that show up almost every month.

Exotics that aren't being used don't really get me excited.

I would rather see a Hemi Challenger/Charger. An AMX, Buick GSX, 442, Road Runner or the like.

Although this would probably be a good place to maybe get some extra work for my new business venture.

Looks like there will be a good selection of BMW's at the event this month. I am one of the founders of the show. What started as 4 guys getting together for a cup of coffee has grown way beyond our expectations.

The Avenue has been great working with us but they have asked for a couple of favors.

1. Please leave room for the customers that patronize the shops along the row with Wolf Camera. Some of them are appointment only and they need convenient parking

2. Be sure not to park in the fire lanes.

Starting in September we are moving the show to Sunday. The reason is we can have better hours 8:00 until 10:30 and we won't have a conflict with the merchants as the only ones open will be Panera (coffee and food) and Borders (car magazines!)

This way the show can continue to grow. Who knows maybe Dave Despane or that guy with the huge mustache will show up someday.

It was at least that. We filled up both sides of the front lot at the Avenue. Really an impressive turnout and a great mix of vehicles.:luxhello:

I agree. So, it looks like it's up to us to organize/maintain a saturday meet.
Justin, it wouldn't be the first meet that we planned, let's make it happen.

Nice to meet you guys. I am bummed that it is moving to Sundays!! My first becomes my last. I really like the idea of finding a Saturday location.

It's unfortunate we had to move to Sundays at the Avenue. We were faced with 3 choices

1. Severely limit the size of the show
2. Find a new location
3. Move to Sunday

The only option given we had a month before the next show was Sunday. I agree that Sat. is a better day.
I've got a lead that is only 2 miles from the Avenue, has as much parking and would have NO conflicts on Saturdays. I am pursuing it and I'll post it here. Hopefully at the Sept. show we will have some good news.

When I was handing out the flyers for the change a couple of folks grumbled, but most were OK with it.
I think we will lose a few and gain a few.
All things considered I'd rather do it on Saturday, but a good location is not easy to find.

Yah. I could see some flaking. If they really love the event the day of the week won't change much.

Probably a large percentage of guys my age (40+) who have kids and are regular Church attendees, but not a large number. I am in the band at Church and play every Sunday morning. But I did not start going to Church until my daughter started kindergarten which was when I turn 35.

I don't think the Sunday move hurt attendance much. I figured we'd lose a few folks who need to attend religious services.
We did gain some that told me that they are busy with thier kids sporting activities on Saturdays.
The Avenue said it was good for them as the merchants can't complain about us taking up parking when they are closed.

I do wonder how many showed up on Saturday though. Hopefully they got the word and we will see them in October.
