Does anyone know where I can get a replacement bulb module for the center brake light of a '98 740i? I've searched the vendors I know and eBay and can't find anything to do with the center light. I really don't want to have to go to the dealer, but that seems to be my only option at the moment. I'm tired of the "check brake lights" message every time I start the car!

Have you called Strictly German in Braselton? Here is the # 706-654-9156
I bet they have one, chances are they are the same module as the E39 5s.

I would definately try to get one used, as they are pricey from the dealer.

I found mine at auto zone for peanuts. And, as an encouragement, it is a SNAP to change, E-Z!
While I was changing that bulb, I figured I would swap out the other tail-light bulbs as a preventative maintenance action.
Edit that, sorry I read you were looking to change the bulb, not the module, my apologies. I didnt change that.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely check with them. I tried the bulb and it is super easy to change out, but that didn't solve the problem and the module looks scorched. I'm hoping changing it will solve the problem. If I have to get into the wiring, it is going to be a pain.

Eureka! I fixed it. I decided to try and clean the contacts on the old module, popped in a new bulb (which I had tried already), replaced everything and it works! One less thing I have to purchase. Now, maybe I'll get new fog lamps instead....
