Just found this forum tonite . . . name is Ken and moved to HHI, SC in last couple of months. I split my time between HHI and NVA (northern VA).
I own a e39 540/6 and an e83 X3 (wife's car). My youngest son has an e36 M3 and e34 540/6 M-package, my daughter has a e38 740i, another son has an e30 325is, and my oldest son has a Saab Viggen.
Been a member of roadfly.org and bimmerforums for a number of years now.
Glad to find a BMW forum more local to HHI.
With all of our cars, we like to do as much of our own maintenance/repairs as we are technically capable. Are there any plans for a DIY component of this forum?
Looking forward to participating on this forum . . .

Let me know if you ever need any help, parts, wiring diagrams, ect. I run a small BMW repair shop and am always happy to help DIYers.
We should start a DIY section. I know there are tons of thing people could do their self with a little instruction.

Welcome to the forums!! Myself also being a roadfly member (though, innactive) I can say that you will find less of the bickering and generally ninny-ing around here! Enjoy!
How does your wife like the X3? My wife and I have that on the short-list as a replacement for her Honda CR-V, happening this winter.

Trading in a CR-V for an X3? Seems like a no-brainer decision to me. Your wife will love it, those things are actually alot fun to drive.

I feel the need to explain the CR-V, being someone who detests the fact that a Honda takes up space in my driveway.
When my daughter was born two years ago my wife made more money than me, and knew she would be leaving her job to start a new business with our daughter's arrival. So, we didn't want to straddle ourselves with a big car note with that kind of financial uncertainty. And we needed to get something better than her old Jetta for baby-hauling purposes.
Now that her business is flourishing, and my own has done the same, we are able to up our game to a finer example of European automobile. We liked the X3 when we first looked at it two years ago, the only thing that will keep us from getting it is the fact that the Toureg is bigger...
Luckily, the girl we bought several of our VWs from is now working for New Country BMW here in Hartford, she's been awesome for us and is a definate point in the X3's favor.

Wife really likes the X3 . . . very drive-able for a female. She is usually tooling around town (or to the beach) w/ our 2yr old . . . . chocolate lab, Bailey!
Thanks, to all, for the warm welcome!

Just saw your tag of Wethersfield, CT. In the late 70's (dating myself), we lived in East Berlin, CT . . . only a local would know where that is! :)

Yup, East Berlin is only a hop, skip, & jump up the Berlin Tpke from Wethersfield. The wife and I came dangerously close to buying a house there. I moved here from NYC about 7 years ago.
