Rim and Tire size question

Hey, I'm new to the forum, I've got an 04 325ci, i'm looking to upgrade the rims that it has on them. Currently with stock suspension set-up, I've got 225/45/17's and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could increase the rim size and decrease the sidewall size, that I would get the same ride height/wheel gap because it looks good the way it is. Anyone know if say 225/35/18 or 19 would produce the same ride height/wheel gap outcome?

First off welcome to the forum. Just swapping in a +1 or +2 is going to physically make the car appear to be raised.

Also please lower the car some if your putting wheels on. Otherwise it simply looks goofy :)

Now you can use this calculator to find the proper +1 and +2 tire sizing. The 18" is over 3% off in terms of overall diameter. The 19" is less than 1% difference so very close.

To explain this.

Stock @ 60mph = 60mph
225.35.18 @ 60mph = 61.9
225.35.19@ 60mph = 59.4

i know about the speedometer that doesnt bother me....I understand when putting bigger rims it makes the car look goofy, which is why i'm asking, if anyone knows if i upgrade the rim size and lower the sidewall size, shouldn't it keep a relatively similar wheel gap? without lowering the vehicle

I gave the information just above. The answer is yes for the most part assuming you keep the same overall diameter.

With that said 19s on a 3 series at stock ride height looks goofy.
