I hope everyone enjoyed the autocross, I know I did. I was just wondering if anyone had pics or videos from here, I'd like to see them.

Just to clarify, what is an Autocross? In Europe its a racee against usually 4 cars in a field, round a circular course, fastest wins, those cars in pics might not like dirt!

Basically the AutoX is a competition of evenly matched cars (in class groupings), and send them off on a course. The course (as we do here locally) is done in a HUGE open parking lot, where you'd set up orange cones for the car to navigate thru. They would either be in the form of a "gate" where two cones opposit each other mean you go thru them....... or some with pointer cones meaning you go to the left or right of it........or, as you might see on TV at times during an AutoTest, the slalom of cones somewhat in a line you zig-zag thru.

Typical times on average might be 50seconds to 1minute for all, depending on how you lay the course out, obviously much faster for some (ie. those that come in a much more prepared car with softer compound tires...etc), and some mucn slower.......The speed a car can reach is typically under 50mph, on the rare occasion with course layout I've seen MUCH higher, but most of the course is probably 35mph and below. (which honestly has you more than busy watching where you need to go)

In theory you are getting closer to matching driver vs driver.

Head to this link and check some of the pics.

Are you going to bring the Pantera out to the first one in April? I would really love to do a ride along.
I was working your group at the last autoX of the year. I can't remember picking up that many cones.

Do you have to have a special license for that? and how old do you have to be?

I probably wont have the Pantera, as I'm selling it.....(just don't use it as much any more since I also have the white C4S you may have seen last year out there......). Our plan is to just sell it in March and get another Z3 that my wife can also AX with.

But....(and not quite as "interesting" as the Pantera)......you or anyone is always welcome to come along for a drive......

(Yes Mitch.........I know its coming............I'm gonna sell it)

You just need a regular drivers license for BMWCCA AutoX events. (I also suggest that if your not a BMWCCA member to join up, so, you can almost always get into an AX.......... just because the seem to fill very very fast now and members always have 1st preference on any waiting list)

Our 1st AX is coming in April and there are plenty of people that will take you along for a drive if you'd like to see what its about.
