Long story short, I noticed a leak by my expansion tank and hoped it was just the vent hose that goes from the radiator to the expansion tank..

Well, after getting the shroud up high enough to get to the hose, 'coz was trying to avoid removing the fan clutch and shroud.... I get it up and the little plastic tube within which the hose connects to, just pops off!! And we all know it's an actual part of the tank!!!! Now I have to get an expansion tank as well..:nono:

Anyone free tomorrow afternoon, to help me get the fan clutch/shroud off so I can replace the expansion tank? Have to go to Global and pick up one first in the am..

HELP!!!! Car is obviously undriveable..! :1eye:

BTW, I have the wrench just nothing to hold it from turning..

If you have the wrench, I was told hit it once with a hammer and jerk it hard and it will break lose.

Long screw driver will jam it to hold it. Just put it on and hit the end of the wrench with a hammer. them spin it off :)

I also had this problem with my old 5 series. The scary part about the fan clutch and cooling fan accessories (http://www.jcwhitney.com/cooling-fan-accessories/c1646j1s17.jcwx) are that they can eat away at the wiring if they get too close. This issue can happen as the car ages and things start to fall apart. It can be possible that your vent hose was leaking due to the fan hitting it. Anyway, the repair is doable DIY style at least!
