These microcars were built after Europe was ravaged by WWII. Europeans were poor and could not afford a large car, and did not want to ride a motorcycle when it was very cold. The Microcar was born and was affordable to nearly anyone. The BMW Isetta uses a BMW 1 cylinder 250-300cc engine and could carry up to 3 people. Today, Isettas are extremely rare and very sought after. I will have an Isetta one of these days!! You guys remember these cars??

Isetta's are cool and one of the most unique cars to see on the road. I'm way more impressed seeing someone driving an Isetta than I am seeing any Ferrari or Lamborghini. They are in a class all of their own.

Mitch, just read your post, I happen to be in the process of disposing of a friends 'stuff' in the garage is an Isetta 600. Ran when it was parked, the u joints were gone. Probably better than 90% no rust thrus, but definitely a reastoration candidate. If you are intrested I can send pictures. thanks kw

Remember? My first car was a red sliding window '58 Isetta 300 convertible. It would run 55 mph wide open downhill, but it sure was fun. I traded it in on a '61 English Ford Anglia. My bad.

Yeah I missed out on that 600 by a few days. I tried to buy it, but someone got there a day prior to me. Damnit.

I found this picture on line. The car is in Greenville TN. Might be my old Isetta. Mine was identical except mine didn't have the luggage rack. Wish I had it now. It brings back lots of good memories.
