I read on a automotive spy website states that the 2009 M6 will get 60hp over the present M6s. As if they are underpowered now?? WOW! More to come as I get the info!

I've heard the same about the upcoming M5. Also, an optional 6MT is rumored to be a future option. Appearently some people (yours truly) just don't dig SMG, no matter how fast it is.

I can rather think of a facelifted M5/M6, since the next 5er will be the F10 coming in 2010/2011 and will be a totally different model... And I don't think a 60hp gain will be enough to lift them from the opposition enough if they should actually have these as successors.

I agree, the power bump needs to be around 100. It does need a face lift, I think the M6 still looks too soft and un-assuming.

600+hp? Jeez do you really think that much power useful for anything besides vaporizing very expensive tires?

Will they give that power in the U.S. or over the pond?

The 6mt is already available. I like the new M5/6 but at low speed they feel completely unremarkable. That is nice sometimes, particularly for a daily driver. To really feel what it is capable of takes pushing really hard. Marvelous feat of engineering all around the car.

Actually I hear the new M5/6 engine will have 638 hp...If bmw give it anything less than 580 hp it will be at a great disadvantage in its market.
