Today was a sad day for me. I had to watch the alpine get crushed... But before I tell you about that let me tell the story of this magnificent alpine.
The story starts right after I had lost all hope in the JDM world. A friend that I had met on the interwebs gave me the hook up of owning an 1989 325i.
He used it as his DD and had some suspension that he threw in with the deal. What he didn't know was that the alpine was a nerdy school girl just waiting to bloom into a sexy college chick.
The car arrived to me like this (scratch the rims, he gave me bottle caps with... the dreaded Sears tires):http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa152/Nismo94/BeforeE30.jpg
Halston, just not having the time to put the suspension on didn't know that she would look so good slammed:http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa152/Nismo94/Picture264.jpg
He felt that I had jewed him out of the deal... But honestly I didn't know she would look that good either. :icon18:
So the story goes on, I put many hours doing maintenance and cleaning her up. Halston had always told me that if I wrecked his car that he would kill me.
"Silly Halston, I would never do that". :glare:
But we all know the truth in that statement......
It was a rainy day and I did not want to drive in the first place, but my bank had screwed up about $200 of my cash so I was forced to drive.
Too bad it ended up costing me more than $200.....

I knew for sure that Halston would hunt me down like the rednecks hunted those little white boys down in that movie "Deliverance".
So I decided to wait a couple days to tell him....
Surprisingly he was cool about it, and gave me the great idea of parting out the alpine!
He also helped me get the "Doo Doo Bronzit" from Alabama. You can read about that in the other thread.

Anyways, I started parting out the alpine. Parts went fast and the cash started to rack in.

I didn't realize how much E30 parts were in demand. I met a lot of good people and got a couple of perks in the racing world.
Breaking even and becoming debt free felt great. What was even better was the fact that I had parts left over to make a profit off of.:mf_dribble:
So, after stripping the Alpine completely it was time to get the dead carcass out of the garage. I friend of mine who is building an NASA s52 swapped e30 needed a wiring harness and offered to help me take it to a junk yard.
I spent a week getting the rest of the parts completely stripped off the Alpine before taking it to the crusher. This is what the car looked like before it was wrecked and stripped:

And after I got done with ripen her apart...she looked like this:

Here is picture of the carcass before it got crushed. These were the alpines last few seconds of life:

:crying:
I will forever miss that alpine, but I learned a lot that is going to help me excel in my career through this ordeal.
That is a long story made short about the magnificent Alpine.
Sorry I wrecked it Halston....Sears tires don't grip good when wet.
The Alpine still lives on....Some pieces are on other alpines, some pieces are on other e30s. But mainly the alpines heart lives on.....in a BRONZIT!!!!!!:puke:

What a fun story...
Let's hope the bronzit doesn't go off the mountain this weekend... then hopefully you won't slide in a ditch before e30 rally!

As long as there is no rain I think we will be fine. Maybe some JDM drifts....
If I can remember last, I wasn't the one who hit a liberty 2 days before the rally...

I appreciate it, glad you guys enjoyed it.

It took a little time...
After I finished and went and got it weighed for scrap it came out to 600lb even. They only gave me $30.50 for the scrap.
Price of steel went down to like $5.08 per 100lb. I can't complain tho she is out of the garage.

Now that the alpine is out of the garage its time to start posting more parts and organizing the hurricane that hit my garage.
My garage feels so empty without the alpine. :(

Wow. Such a well documented sad story. It brings tears to my eyes. It is truly the end of an era. She will surely be missed by the Strategic Alpine Command.
