I've been on the fence about lowering the M5 about 1 inch. What do you guys think? Obviously I want a better suspension and want it to look good, but what brand?

don't know a brand but watch out that your wheels don't hit the wheel wells, If so you need to roll them.

Mitch if available for it I would go with the Bilstein PSS9 coilovers. A car like yours deserves the best. Cost as much as an e30 but you can do it. Right?!

hmmmmm, well, I wouldn't, but that's just me, I like the height these cars, especially the M's sit at stock, but if you want to lower it, as southernbimmer has said, spare no expense.

DO IT!

I don't know about putting coilovers on the car, it's a bit of overkill if you ask me. I ran Eibach Pro-Kit springs with Bilstein sport shocks and Suspension Techniques sways on my old Audi and E30 and loved what they did for the appearance and handling. And the set-up didn't cost as much as an E30..

Since I highly doubt you will ever adjust the ride height again once you get it set up initially, why would there be a need for coilovers other than to say that your dropped a ton of money only because it was the most expensive option and for no other reason? And, if you are going to buy the most expensive just because it's the most expensive, why not go with Dinan parts?

I agree with all of you. I love how the car rides in stock form, but when I push it, I can FEEL that its a heavy car. If I cannot steer with the front, steer with the rear, right Machschnell? :)

H&R springs with Billstein struts always seems like a good combo for most bimmers. I test drove an M3 with that setup last night nad the handling was so fierce it gave me nightmares.

...well I buy my e30's cheap. now I believe there is a new kit with a remote setup which allows you to adjust damper and ride height from the drivers seat
and create your own presets and I'm not talking about Tein either.

The only issue I have with doing the exhaust, is my other cars. My Ferrari and Porsche turbo are VERY loud cars. When I get in the M5 I cherish how quiet it is, and how I hear nothing except a little intake growl. Hmmmm.

Mitch. There was a guy at the BMW AutoX school this year, had a super nice M5 with the Dinan Stage3 (I think) suspension on it. I don't recall how much it was lowered.....etc, but, I will say that car was purely amazing. I might be able (somehow) to find his name from the list to see exactly what it was......... but man it was fun!

I wanna hear the Ferrari!
I'm a Bimmer guy, but I'm also 100% Italian which means it's ingrained in my genetic code that the sound of a high-revving V12 at wide-open-throttle makes my endorphine levels temporarily spike and my knees go weak. I could listen to it all day. Just thinking about it.....

Yeah his sounds great, he has headers with no cats...:D i think! He has the 308 QV which is a V8 but it still sounds amazing!

Actually, it's the Tubi exhaust on the 308 that makes it sound so good. And, it DOES sound good! I want Mitchy-the-Missle to make me a mixed tape of all the exhaust notes that come out of his garage.

Lucky prick. :D

too bad the Ferrari and Porsche turbo are "loud" Stop being a puss, they're suppose to be loud. Leave the resinators in and change the mufflers. I did that on a customers 01 740il. Not loud at all, but authorative under load. come on, I have to give you some sh*t. You've heard my cars. I can barely hear when i get out of them, but that's just how I like it. My wifes car is a bit out of hand on the noise front, but she's the one driving it and the kids loves it so she'll live.
