Just a little tutorial I thought I'd help out with posting some pictures after the meeting last night!
Here was go . . .
Here's a pretty quick and simple write up on how to get some of these pictures up and on the forums.
1.(Making Sure You Have The Correct Image Link)
Make sure that the picture you're posting links DIRECTLY to a picture . . .in other words, if you click the link to the picture it should take you to the image, not to a page holding the image . . . .
Simply put . . . if you click the link you're trying to use, it should go to this
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/nightmajik/BMW/540i/DSC_9028.jpg
Not to this:

Remember a link is nothing more than a line of text that instructs your computer on where the browser should point.
2.( Learning how to use the IMG code)
Something to remember is that Club Bimmer (and most forums for that matter) require something called BBCODE in order to display certain functions correctly, such as bolding, italics, and underlining. This also holds true for images.
In order to display images properly, you have to use the IMG code properly . . . 2 things to remember with that.
A) You have to remember that ALL BBCODE starts with an Open Bracket " [ " and ends with a Close Bracket " ] " Thats the squarish looking parenthesis keys that should be just above the Enter and Quotation keys on a normal 102 Key Keyboard.
B) You have to remember that when you open a BBCODE, whether it be for images, fonts, colors or typesets etc, you have to remember that you must end it at some point. The way we end BBCODE is with a forward slash /.
For instance you want to input an image, so you would type the following:
***your image url***
The above is just an example of what would be typed in an image, keep in mind your URL would go in between the IMG headers and trailers. This lets the forum know what to do with your image.
So, keeping that in mind, your image link could be to a picture of your car, where the link is, http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/nightmajik/nightmajik.jpg what you do is take THAT link, put it between the img code and viola, you have a picture
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/nightmajik/nightmajik.jpg
-----------------
In Photo Bucket, what they have is a list of four fields to choose from and they are as follows:
Email & IM:
Direct Link:
HTML Tag:
IMG Code:
For posting here and on other forums, you want to use the IMG Code field and this will allow you to post images quickly and easily.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a63/nightmajik/fieldselect.jpg
With photobucket, as soon as you click in the field of your choice, in this case IMG Code, the text will AUTOMATICALLY copy. If it does not auto-copy, just use the right mouse button to extend the function-menu, select "Copy", then go to the forum in which you wish to post your pictures, right click again and select "Paste".
Now, that's easy . . . . .right?
Here's another cool feature that some aren't aware of.
If you look above the area where you are posting in advanced mode, there are several buttons to choose from, if you look for a button with a small picture of a mountain and sun on it, that button will bring up a dialog box where you can enter a link in order to post a picture. Simply click on that button, enter the image URL into the provided space and click OK. It will automatically append the IMG code BBCODE and your picture will automatically be inserted into the post when you click Submit New Post.
That's about it, if you have any questions feel free to post here or PM me if you want to talk to me one on one.
