Hey all,
I'm parting with my 94 325is, more commonly known as "Dr. Coupenstein"
If anyone's interested please pm me for more info. I'm in a hurry to sell it because I need the money to put a down-payment on the M3 I'm buying.
Thanks,
-Philip

And thank you Mitch.
Potential buyer #4 has officially fallen through. I think I'm just going to drop the price on this thing and take a loss, just for the sake of getting the M3. It's not ideal, but I'm running out of options.

It almost sold last night...
This lady wasted my entire day off, running around Ga and waiting on her. I met her son at 7:30 in the damn morning so he could look at the car, I changed the brake light switch, I drove about 75 miles through Friday traffic to meet her in Woodstock, and then, at 7:00 at night- 12 hours after I started this circus, she tells me she doens't want to buy it because she doesn't want her son to have a 5-spd vehicle!
SHE KNEW IT WAS A ****ING 5-SPD YESTERDAY!!!
I don't really care that she isn't buying it, but she could have at least not wasted my time, you know? What a way to spend my ONE day off.
Anyway, I think since I know how well it's been maintained, the car is worth more to me than I can get for it, ($3500) so I may just not sell it at all. My little sister turns 16 soon and I was going to give it to her, but she wants a Mini Cooper

I know all about this stuff. We have had an F250 for sale for a while and lots of people say they will meet on this day or that and then never call back. Same with alot of stuff I have had for sale lately. Now my 325I is getting a rework and I know when I am ready to sell it will be the same ****. We have 4 BMW's, a Passat wagon and an F-250. Time to get a bigger garage and driveway!

Why buy an M3??? Buy a TRM turbo and some H&R Race/Bilsteins, and rape M3's all day long :) It's what I'm going to do.

He has to many miles to boost unless he does a rebuild! I would try to put it on craigslist thats where i found my M3 at!

I would rebuild/boost it if I had the tools and a place to park the car for 2 or 3 weeks while I worked on it, but I don't so M3 it is.

I don't see why he needs a rebuild. Completely depends on engine condition. I'd leakdown/compression test and go from there. Might need a HG at some point, but that should be it, unless he has some bad cylinder bore wear. I don't think blanket statements should be used as appropriate forum banter.

I bet the internals are immaculate. I use all synthetic fluids and the car runs like it has 30k on the clock. With a new HG I bet this car could rack up 400K before it needs a full rebuild. It pulls strong and smooth, and it idles like a sewing machine.
It doesn't consume oil either. I use Mobil1 10W40 high-mileage. I put 7 quarts of oil in, drive 4500 miles and take 7 quarts of oil out. My car is really a testament to German engineering. I might compression test it just for the hell of it.

I was just saying that if i was going to boost it i would go though it all and make sure that everything is up to spec still, i would do bearing, rings and HG at the least but thats just me. 230,000 is alot of miles to boost without looking stuff over i have had a lot of people tell me that i shouldn't boost my M3 because of the mileage (135,000) most say that under 100,000 is save without opening it up.

E46 M3? I'm not familiar with many S54 setups yet, and not enough people have higher mileage on them yet to be able to say just how those engines will do with higher mileage. There is nothing 'wrong' inherently with taking a look at the condition on your engine before turboing. However, stating that it 'needs' a rebuild is simply wrong. If cylinder compression and leakdown checks out a-ok, and a UOA shows no particular metallic wear issues, then he should be safe to turbo. Anything from there will be a setup/tune issue from the breaking things/parts failure standpoint, and will just as likely happen with an engine with 50k on it.
