If I ever make a decent enough salary I think I might become one of theose stuck-up Porsche ass-holes.
I love them, I just can't afford the hobby.
For the last few months I've been toying with this ridiculous idea of buying a 993 next.

I love this car, I have a sales brochure for this car. Ender and I saw a 959 in Switzerland in 1989 in person at a Ferrari dealership.

No, Bruce Canepa brought a total of 10-12 959s into the states, including Bill Gates red Luxury version which sat at a custom's compound lot for 2 years while Canepa did his EPA/DOT work.

As much as I want, if I'm spending big bucks, I'm skipping all variations of the 911, I'm skipping the 959 . . .

I'm going for . . .a 996 Turbo . . .hands down my favorite Porsche EVER!

It's modernization of a dinosaur design. Out with the groggy, crotchedy old . . and in with the more stylistic, non-antiquated, yet full of pedigree new!

It also corners harder, has a better 0-whatever, better whatever-0, and a slightly HIGHER top speed.

The only way to settle this is I rent a 996, you rent a 993 . . .we go to the strip and see which one is liked more by women aged 18-39.

One of my buddies has a 850hp 996 Turbo, it is BAD AAASSS! However, that blue 993 Turbo S is what dreams are made of. Gimme that Turbo S anyday, its worth as much as 4 996TTs.

Being in that 850 horse 996 causes an instant panic attack, you think you are about to die. Its that awesome.

See this man knows. Sure the 996 is a better car than the 993. The 993 is what the DRIVER wants...

**** Danny loves his e36 m3 and I do too. If we just cared about the cooler new car we would trade it is on a new Acura TL... it is faster and corners harder. So what?

hunterd557
12-17-2008, 05:57 PM
I wouldn't expect him to trade OUT of a BMW, but being that the E92 M3 is better, if someone said

HERE! Take the keys to either an E92 M3 or an E36 M3 . . .well . . I don't know what he'd choose, but I'd go for the better car! The E92, M3.

The 996 is better, case closed, LOL! The 993 can't compete, I guess it's all personal preference on how it looks, and I respect your opinion on it. I just think the 996 is a much better looking car and honestly feel in a survey of 1000 people, at least 60 percent would agree with me.

You guys are both right. The 996 is a newer car than the 993, but I am not sure its a "better" car. The 993 is better looking, sounds a lot better, aircooled, handles better and much more rare. The 996 is sterile enough that my grandma could drive it fast. That being said, the 996TT is one HELL of a bad ass car. Incredible to drive, easy to drive extremely fast and reliable as a Swiss watch.

My preference is the all mighty 993 Turbo S. Another buddy just got his 997 GT2 and he said that car is unbeatable. I am going to drive it this weekend if its not raining. I'll take pics!

But Mitch, you're just proving my point . . .you're one hundred Nintey Two . . .

Of course you're going to like the older car.

Enthusiasts, old men and fanboy Porsche-geeks will love everything about the 993, the same way we'd all prefer an E30 M3 over . . .well . . any other M3.

But if you're talking about out right performance, sex appeal, styling and overall bad-assness, the 996TT wins hands down. No contest.

The test would be, take a 993 and a 996 to the strip (Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Atlanta Sunset, Miami Sunset, Broadwalk, whichever) and see which one makes the ladies smile more.

The winner is the cooler car. In with the new, out with the old. The 993 is good, but it's yesterday's news. It's still a headliner, but from last century. The 996 is the new big dog on the block and one day we will all accept that old and tired can't touch the new hotness (Thanks Will Smith for letting me derive from your lines)

Notice how the headlights have gone almost "traditional", i.e., 993.. I'll take one of each please.. :)

On a side note, a buddy of mine back in NY used to race his 993, not a Turbo. Took me for a ride one night, that thing got up to 100mph in NO time!! Crazy fast and he just had minor mods; exhaust, software/chip, etc.. I can't imagine a Turbo!!

very true, except the new TL does not handle better.

the 959 has been at the top of my porsche list since the days of the original need for speed!

At least he did it in 1 post. Philip would have used individual posts to comment on the help his post-aholic count numbers to go off the chart.

P.S. we will get back to substance on page 3

Back on topic!
Last night, I was tagged as the designated driver for my parents. The guy whose house they were at DD at Jag S-Type(the SC V8 kind), and has a Boxster and '88 911 for his weekend cars. His wife has a new 'Stang vert and an Excursion. Soo many practical cars!

But, we were looking at the 911, because it is the newest. And I really love that thing, may be slower than the rest, but it is cooler looking IMO. And when I sat inside, I loved the way that they pedals were set up. He would have taken me for a drive, but let's say that he was umm... not sober... Next time I go over though!
