It basically would drive me back and forth from D-ville to Alpharetta M-F and rest on the weekends. It may see the occasional track time but it shouldn't be in excess of what the Bullitt sees, mostly because the Bullitt is the car with all the sponsors . . .

Not bad.. If possible have Alan @GCR check it out..
Anymore pics, esp., interior, engine bay? Check for rust around license plate, lower windshield area, wheel wells, etc.
Mine ran great, '87 535isA. Halston could probably jump in and comment..:)

WOOT!
Thanks Seb, I'm basically just trying to get back into a 535i, I love em, it's a good balance of everything I love about BMW, spacious comfort, sporty performance, good torque, crazy reliability.
I would go with a E34 or E39 540i/6, but they cost far too much and I don't know how reliable they are . . .to be honest. It would have to be able to handle daily driving Monday through Friday and would have to be able to take the occasional beating on the track. No offense to 540i owners, but I don't think it would be able to do that.

E28's for the most part have a rule. The 3,000 dollar rule. Usually works out.
If you pay more than 3,000 dollars you are probably fine. If you pay less expect to put the difference up to 3,000 in maintenance.
As said check for rust and since you can't drive it get it on a lift(kind of hard) and check bushings. I bet it needs all the front end replaced.

I bet it does, my Bullit, which is an 01, needs all of the bushings replaced, this car is from last century, it's only 4 years younger than I, LOL! I'm sure it'll need more than that! But I'll give it a looksee, but I'm with you all the way, Halston. I've noticed that there's a break-even point of each BMW series, in fact, it usually exists with any make/model you buy, it's just a matter of finding it and making sure you aren't spending too much ^_^.

535i is win, I say do it.
Halstons 5-boat moves pretty quick and I dont believe a more reliable engine than the M30 ever came out of Bavaria, (besides maybe the M10)

I've been seeing that car on CL for some time. Price is great now, I wonder what a clutch job would cost on that thing if you did it yourself? Like $500? Car looks great though.

That is a gangster ass clean e28. It'd be good to keep it in the family too.

It is a very nice car ^_^ I remember drooling over the Alpharetta and Hiram pictures of it, LOL! But I won't lie to you, I can't commit to a 4800 dollar car at this point. I'm making payments on the Bullitt as well as funding the most RETARDED and EXPENSIVE hobby anyone can do with a car next to crashing exotics for fun.
I'm honestly looking for something I can take a month's pay, pick up and just drive. I don't make a crap load of money, but I'm not exactly bottom pickings, I'm right in the middle, LOL! I get a pay raise this month though (a significant one) so we'll see how it equates.
Who knows, I may come back in January and pick her up! I really do like it, I still remember how those seats feel! SOOOOO comfy :luxhello:
