Dude, get Firefox. It prevents you from misspelling words while you are handing out the retarded decision of the year award. Makes you look less retarded. :001_tongue:

And now that I think of it, I am a genius. She should just buy a Volvo 240. Wagon preferably. I want one and when I go to college I will be either car less, or driving a stick E30 or stick Volvo 240.

Although I agree with you. I think Nissan 240's are pretty cool, but there aren't many "sports" cars that are better for young people than an E30.

Aww holy mother of Mary. I now see why the ENTIRE WORLD bashes the Paulding County public education system.

I would just assume pound my own balls flat with a wooden hammer as to have ever read this post.

That 318i was one of like five nice e30 318i's left alive. Trust me. The other four are not selling. It will NEVER be replaced. It will only be a matter of time til that poor girl goes through serious withdrawl. I have been there. It ain't pretty.

I just hope that Cookie cutter plactic garbage Jap car fills the void. Don't come to me for sympathy. I have none to offer.

At least you will be able to show off that piece of Tiwan tin at the Varsity or Hot Import Nights. NOPI nationals looks like a blast.

Wait she sold a basically stock e30 because it bottomed out in her new driveway so she is getting a 240? Something that has larger front overhangs and is just as slow as the e30 it is replacing?

Seriously?

I didn't say anything about money or finances. I was commenting on the reason she said she was selling the e30. The m10 appeared to be having some problems as she discussed with me and having trouble navigating her new driveway.

I don't see how the 240 betters itself over the e30 except maybe the engine runs better?

But yeah bro, if you wanna, I'm down for a joint project. I know where we can get some cheap JDM motors all we have to do is find an E30 shell.

Hell, I saw a E30 318 with a KA24DE in it, it ran like a CHAMP, and was MUCH faster than a normal 318, it probably could pace with or even out pace a 325, anyhow, he then proceeded to turbo said KA24DE . . .yeah, lets just say "keeping pace" isn't an issue with many cars, LOL!

I see a whole buncha hate goin on in that post, LMAO!

Honestly bro, just like I've explained to others, a old BMW is only a "cool car" in the eyes of other BMW enthusiasts and other car guys who appreciate European engineering. To normal people, it's just an old BMW and a money pit.

Yeah, a stock E30 318 or 325is is an awesome car, a very awesome car and I would LOVE to own one again. But if I had to choose, for my daily driver, between a 1991 240sx or a 1991 318is, as AWESOME as the 318 is, I think I'd go with the 240 SIMPLY because:

1.) I'm a drifter and BMWs are NOT for the motorsports enthusiast on a budget. As affordable as E30's are to race and drift, they CANNOT touch the Japanese market.

2.) I need to KNOW that it will always start when I go outside no matter the temperature and that if I lose a camshaft, if I want to buy a NEW one it won't be 750 bucks to get ONE going.

But, Jon, you know this about me, I don't speak for ANYONE else on this forum and everyone here knows that I could not give two sh*ts less what anyone here or elsewhere thinks about me or my car decisions. That said, the E30 is awesome, very awesome . . .a 240, however, can be a better decision for some.

I know I just dont get it. Just seems like a waste of time. If one is so worried about the price of camshafts, why hack up an overpriced e30 with a cheap engine? All you wind up with is an e30 that is worth nothing but the sum of its original parts.

IMO the Jag XJ6 is one of the finest crafted bodies on the road. Would I be that person to put a Chevy 350 in it? No effin way. Kills everything that The XJ stands for.

A 350 in a 240z? Just garbage. Bet it drifts better than any e30 with any motor setup. But it is still just some clapped out could have been 240z. I just hate to see that happen to the e30.I hate to see the 350 in a 240z. If it isn't economical for the application(drift car), move on. Plenty of other RWD platforms that nobody cares about.

Ultimately, I shouldn't care. They can be had cheap. The more they become butchered up, the more the value goes up.

Thay may not be evident now. But hell, I bought my 73 2002 for 2,500. sold it for 6,500. Saw it for sale 6 years later for 13,500. I called the guy. He put door locks in it since I sold it. Not a bad investment. And the 2002 population wasn't endangered by butchers.

Production #'s of 2002's vs e30s isn't realevant here. There were more 02's snuck in the US by Max Hoffman and Military than you would think.

no one has answered how a 240 fixed the issue she had...

not able to get in and out of the driveway.

750 for a camshaft? you can just buy a whole m20 for 400 or less. the parts are more because it is not mass produced crap for the most part in the aftermarket.

also an e30 that you can't count on starting? few and far between. same with the e28. m20 and m30 almost always start. I know of a lot of first hand experience. overheated m20 blew a hose off... drove it home with creekwater. still runs today. overheated m30 to the point it shut odd... still runs to this day.

e30 over 240 any day... regardless of being a bmw owner

This is very true. The M20 is what the call "bullet proof". I don't think a KA can last 600,000 miles.

We could assume some vehicles were swapped because the motor went south?

Little devil's advocate haha

I think that we can all agree that Volvos last the longest........

And I am just throwing that out there to f with everyone. But they do.

I can't disagree with that, they have given people new Volvos before. That one guy that had his Million Mile Volvo . . .yes . . .that was sweet!

Yeah, there have been a few of those. I have developed a huge Volvo obsession over the past few weeks.

Idk I really have doubts of a KA making it to 600k miles without having to replace some big parts. Not saying its a bad thing because stuff for a KA is Dirt Cheap. But there is reason the parts are dirt CHeap....;) The 2 KA24de that I had weren't bad engines. I just think that an M20 could last longer if kept with the right maintenance. Plus most people that have KAs beat up on them constantly so they do last a good bit for what they are.
(The following statements are an opinion of Leeroy)

P.S- I don't hate 240s there fun cars.

That's very true, as I explained to a motorsports friend of mine that road races his E36 M3, 10 out of 12 BMW owners will never do more than push their car fast on the street, and even then, it's only when passing a truck or two.

Most of your BMW owners are like Wayne, they realize the beauty of a BMW, the build qualtiy and the pedigree. They'll never drive it that way nor are they in the least bit concerned with motorsports in the sense of driving their car on the track.

You have the other 40 percent that are like Philip, they'll say "I don't wanna break something" in reference to track time but then they'll stupidly slide their car through traffic and on the streets. Curbs are worse than cones . . .

Then you have the select few that actually realize that their BMW is worth a damn and decide that maybe if it's a good race car when stock, maybe we can tune it up to something very competitive. And there's your 10 percent.

I think the main reason BMW engines last so long is the same reason Volvo engines last so long. They're built EXCEPTIONALLY well and are "bulletproof" as people like to say. And since the majority of their life is maxed out at about highway speeds, (well within the manufacturers designated operational range), they don't undergo any unnecessary strain.

You need to simplify your fractions. That would be 5 out of 6 BMW owners. I like being a smart ass.

Yeah, motorsport, if they wanted it to stand for street racing they would have put VTEC on it.

...and Dave, it's not all about racing. It's about a car that can be driven every day, and still performs to the standards of a car that could be driven on a track. This video explains it much better than I can.

KA24DE > M20B25. The End.
Blow me.

Also, that 240 = heap of $hit. CL ad said 140k miles, odometer said 240k miles.

Mel's getting another e30.

/thread.

I've learned that CL can be a bunch of crap. On another note, my KA is still holding up great, lol.
