So I ordered the parts to rebuild my shifter today. They should be in Thursday, and Friday will be the work day. Does anyone have any pointers?

lowering the trans by undering the trans bracket makes it easier.

I was also thinking about putting new fluid in and replacing the tranny mounts. Should I just stop by United and get some OEM mounts? I was looking at the UUC ones, but those seem pretty extreme.

You might look into aluminium tranny mounts, I've heard it makes a world of difference.

I just decided to get the UUC black mounts from Harrison's. The red ones were what I saw and thought was intense. This should be a great feel when I'm done. How long do yall think will take? Shifter rebuild, fluid changes, and mounts.

Yes. Go urethane. No aluminum ever on a street car.

Umm, not to sound ignorant, but how does the transmission mount effect anything?

I want to do urethane mounts too, but I want to feel someone elses car with them first to see if they're worth the effort.

Skill level is about 4. I redid the head gasket on the v6, plus the transaxle about 3 times. Plus countless other things. The TVR has it's engine out of it. The other guy made his non-turbo Mazda into a turbo'd killer with many many goodies.

Oh no. That wasn't the problem. I studied pictures to death and got it out no problem. It was that first bushing that had to come out first. Just everything wasn't fun. I know it now though.

bench vise with asst socket sizes does wonders with small bushings in my experience
