What do you guys use? The best stuff I used so far was a wheel cleaner by Purple Power, and now I cannot find it anymore.

Believe it or not, I use a mixture of vinegar and water and it works great. The key for me has been to do it often enough to keep any heavy build up from accumulating.

when I use to wash outside I used water and car wash soap and soft brush.

I have the 15" OEM E36 "BBS Bottlecaps" so I use the only appropriate product on the market.

I use and recommend Eagle One wheel and tire clearner then treat with Zymol wheel cover. Nothing sticks to it...wheels clean so easy it's like stealing from the bank!

Funny this thread came out. I was contamplating the same thing this morning before I cleaned my car. I purchased Meguiars wheel cleaner and as expected it worked great. Take note that my car has not been cleaned for about a month , you could just imagine the brake dust build up. I highly recommend it. :D

I have found that any good degreaser, like Kaboom, Purple power and greased lightening work great. You don't have to dilute them to work.
Like mistertripps said, just don't let the brake dust accumulate too much, it will eat right into the wheel finish.

I was in Adv. auto the other day and saw Mr. Clean magic eraser wheel cleaner....pretty funny idea, has anyone actually used them?
