I have a Conforti Cold Air Intake, Mine still looks new because I only put about 2200 miles on my vert in two years. Heres the question, When I got the Intake there was nothing in the box to tell you what to use to clean it.

hit up any auto parts store and get a K&N cleaner kit, and a old soft used tooth brush.
It comes with a cleaner that you spray on, let it soak, then rinse off(from the inside out). I usually do that and then spray it again and hit it with the tooth brush and then rinse again.
Then you just let it dry and spray on the oil.

You did explain it perfect. Thanks for the information.
I'm just trying to put more information on the site for people who do searches.

Oiled air filters cause MAF failure. Get a paper filter like a Dinan or something similar and just replace it when it gets dirty. It's cheaper than having to buy a new maf.

The one that came with the Conforti is in the garage. I'm using a paper cone.

+1 This is a common problem on ALL cold air systems. The intake sucks oil in and it can change the readings on your MAS causing your car to run worse. Just be careful to not put too much oil on. Also, if you can clean your MAS, do it. I don't know if you can clean the MAS on a BMW.

Correct.
Don't run an oil'd filter on a BMW with an HFM(They don't have MAF).
It will ruin it unless you run the exact perfect amount of oil, not too much and not too little(then let in debris and filth).
Just run to BMW dealer and grab a dinan filter and you will be set :)
