I find myself in need of a daily driver and I just don't have time for the trackday thing. As such I am selling my 1987 327isT. The mod list is very long and NO expense was spared.

I started with a Southern, no rust 1987 325is. to which I added:

TCD stage 2 turbo kit with liquid to air intercooler.
Treehouse racing 5 lug conversion.
UUC E36 M3 big brake kit
Zionsville Automotive quick ratio steering rack. 2.7 turn lock-to-lock.
Urethane bushings throughout.
Rear bushings are adjustable for caster and camber.
Chrome Euro bumpers front and rear.
17" throwing star wheels w/ Toyo Proxes T1R's
Front camber plates.
Large front mounted oil cooler
Momo seats
4 point harnesses
4 point roll car
Custom interior, all new professionally done.
AC still blows cold and the power steering still works

2822 pounds with 1/2 tank of guess. In other words this car is scary fast! It will hit readline in top gear QUICKLY!. With a 3.73 LSD it breaks traction in 2nd gear on dry pavement.

I am sure I missed some things here. The engine was built by German car repair. I did not slap a turbo on a old, stock motor. It uses a Eta block, 324TD forged crank, shotpeened and balanced rods and JE forged Super Eta Pistons. All machine work was done by Digger Don Dixon in Norcross.
I have run this car at Little Taladega in 85 degree temps and it did NOT overheat. IN fact the oil temp never exceeded 200 degrees (it's a BIG oil cooler.
I have the Dyno sheet. It produces 306RWHP and 300#'s of torque at 12psi on 93 octane. The car easily passed GA emmisions

The cost to reproduce this car would be $25,000. If you are thinking of building a fast track you will save $$, time and lots of lost sleep buying this one for $15,000.
For some pics go to www.germancarrepair.com
If you have any questions email me at markcritter@bellsouth.net or call me at 404-444-5907.

Please serious inquires only. You WILL NOT be able to get financing for this car so you'll need CASH.

I would consider a trade for a VERY clean, unmolested E36 M3.

This is the most fun E30 that I have driven (& I have the flat-spotted tire to prove it:blink:). The motor is built right and the car is set up correctly. It has solid motor mounts & no vibration......
If I didn't have 6 Bimmers already including the M635 I would be all over it........

I've had a couple folks coment on the price. But the number go like this:

TCD stage 2 turbo kit w/ exhaust and ceramic coated manifold $6400
Treehouse 5 lug conversion w/ GC springs and Koni adjustables $3500
UUC E36M3 BBK $1000
Machine shop work to balance and blueprint EVERYTHING. $1200
Interior work $1200

Over $13K here and we haven't even looked at the cost of all the new engine parts, Urethane bushings, clutch, oil cooler, AN lines and on and on.

Oh and that other cost LABOR.

If you think you can do an E30 turbo for less, think again. To do it right costs $$ up front.
Do it wrong and you spend more $$ later!

For 15K you get the car for less than the cost of the parts. Oh and that doesn't even include the intitial cost of a very clean E30.

If you want a well done, great handling and STUPID fast BMW for a great price this is your car.

lies....

the clutch was actually the culprit....

we found that out after MANY MANY MANY hours of tearing down, deliberating and talking with machine shops. the motor was perfectly healthy and was wonderful :D

Sorry to hear it, but come on, did you honestly think I was going to let this car slide for $6000? The Turbo kit alone from TCD was $6400 with all the trimmings.

I know I'll most likely get to hear another story about a killer E30 built from junkyard turbos and diesel manifolds for $50. And I'm sure that car is about as reliable as a $10 Canal Street Rolex.

Quality costs $$ and you get what you pay for.

just trying to help bump up the bids so you get what the car is worth :P

i know how a turboo e30 feels i spent about 3500 on my home brew kit but that was with alot of custom fabrication. you also have the motor build and the beautiful car to go along with it. :D good look with the sale and i hope the car goes into the hands of someone who can truely enjoy and care for it. :D

Awesome car...but I'm having a hard time with the painted grill. Not that it would be a deal breaker or very easy to make right. I just think the car would bring more money without it. It cheapens what is otherwise pure awesome.

Not for nothin....I'm just sayin....

Haha, yeah, I think we can forgive you for that one. I have seen a few E30's in worst condition than that one, just a few though. :001_tongue:

Starting to look like the car won't make reserve. Ebay is rarely a place to get good $$ for something.

I am going to try the Roundel and Grass Roots magazine next.

If no luck there I might stick a stock motor in it, and sell the turbo engine and the car seperately, or just part the whole thing out.

I just can't take less than the reserve for the car. It's at about 1/2 what it would cost to build. Too much $$, time and effort here.

What do you guys thing I could get for the engine complete with turbo kit?

Justin
08-03-2008, 12:43 PM
LOL $500 bucks right now ill come pull it out!!! But really i have no clue.... Dominic might have a better idea. If you do part it out send me a list of mods that you are parting.... i might want some of the susp.

Thanks

Unfortunately that is the problem of building a car like this. No one is willing to pay what has been put into it. Build it only if you plan to keep it or take the big loss. I hope you can get it sold. If you part it  I am with Justin, let me know what you are selling because I may want some of it.

I happen to dig the red grill. It's like the old DTM E30 M3s. Anybody remember what team did that? I know Jon knows.

I might be interested in buying the shell with no motor. I would want the suspension left intact though.

I agree, but I only want 50% of the money I've got into this!
Back when I was racing with SCCA the rule of thumb was you got around 1/2 of any used gear/parts/ cars. That's were I came up with my reserve price.

There is a REALLY nice E36 M3 that I want to buy, but I think it will most likely be gone by the time I can get this car sold. That will remove a lot of my motivation to part with it quickly.

In the mean time this is where it will be. I'm not driving it (don't like to drive stuff I have for sale). I've got the 911 and my bikes to get around on. Oh and BTW the cover goes with the car.

Reserve was $12,000. I've got reciepts to prove I've got that much into the turbo kit and engine parts alone (not including labor, machine work, crank, pistons).

That's the firm price. If interested let me know.

Hopefully the E36M3 will arrive next week.!:luxhello:
