So today I was out summer job hunting. I went to a B&N near my house. My house is about 5 minutes from Exit 54 on I85 and the B&N is right off I85 at Exit 51. So I pick up an application and am heading home and then the fun begins.

I get on I85 and see an early '90's yellow Carrera and think, "Cool car." Then I realize that it is driving behind a white R8, Which was behind a black Cayman, which was behind a newer black Carrera. So, I'm thinking that I will run with these guys for a while, since it was pretty obvious they were running together.

Well, we are doing like 80-85, but stuck in traffic, so I'm like, this is kind of boring, but when we hit some open road, this is going to be sweet. We lose the Cayman and yellow Carrera as they get off I85, so I think they had just seen the black Carrera and R8 and decided to run with them like me.

We hit some open road and nothing. They maybe get up to like 90. I was thinking, these guys sucks, next open stretch, I'll go and maybe they will follow. Next open stretch, I blast past them and get up to like 115, yet they do nothing. So I was like screw this and got off at Exit 87(I think)turned around and drove home. I decided that those guys were either rich pricks who bought to cars to get chicks, not to drive fast or they didn't want to run with me because I was driving an old BMW. Either way, they were pricks.

On a good note, on the way home I have mini-runs with a silver G35, a red E38 740i, and a last gen Eclipse vert.

Seriously, no one wants to comment on my almost hour detour?

Just a thought. Maybe because a lot of people don't do high speed driving (racing) on Public roads. They do it at the Track. Still a great story.

If I was driving one of those cars in this situation I would probably just wonder what you were doing :)

115 on a public road! I would have let you go also. My best buddy has a Testarossi DB9 911 7 series, and never exceeds the speed limit. He says the cars are great at any speed, and as he has gotten older, killing himself has moved way down the to do list.

no fun with said cars = your hour long detour was a fail

You might be right, but I was still disappointed.

Pretty much, but it was still a little fun. I got some cell phone pics of the R8, but they are terrible.
