I have a 2002 745i with 83k miles on it now.. we bought it with 24k in 2005. The only major repair is replacement of the transmission last month. The warranty expires soon, and I love my car, just struggling with trading it for another 745 or keeping it because I am afraid of the potential repair cost. My service rep said to trade it because the software changes were done in 2003 and later models. I had the software updates done, and, knock on wood, haven't had any software issues. I've maintained excellent records. I would love some feedback!

What about buying an extended warranty? If you love the car, that would give you "some" peace of mind......there are aftermarket warranty companies that would cover most expensive issues.
Just a thought.......

Will they warranty cars with more than 100k miles? That is when mine expires..

If you love the car keep it. Just take care of it. I love those cars!

Hell I think your model looks better than the current one, I say keep it.

If it is paid for (or close), I'd say keep it. Better to have to pay for repairs every once in a while than to be in debt for a new car. Of course, I'm a Dave Ramsey listener, so I don't plan to ever have another car payment!

I am in a simliar dilemma, but, I am looking to get rid of my 98 to get a 2001. I love the 2001 e38, the last year of the body style. I am researching availability for the lowest mileage on a 2001 now, trying to see what the price range is. So, I can kinda feel for ya'
