BMW made only 5,700 Z8s. James Bond 007 made the car a celebrity instantly! The first series Z8s had the 540 engine and the last 1000 or so had the potent, fire breathing M5 V8!

Hey Mitch, neat site. But uhh, info on the Z8 is a little off. ALL the Z8s had the M5 engine, 5.0liter V8, 400hp. Only the last 555 units the "Alpina" had a slightly detuned (they would say retuned) 4.8liter V8, 375hp mated to an Auto transmission. But the Z8s are drop-dead gorgeous.
