I am the new owner of an 2008 335i sedan (Got it today from Nalley BMW), But as soon as i left the dealer ship i got check engine light . Now i am worried as i started to look up the issue online i saw lots of posts regarding bad fuel pumps etc . I have been a admirer of BMW for years now and after being able to buy it, i am seeing an engine check light that comes on eevry time i start the car . I just want to know if any body else had an similar situation and what happened. Here is the link to the image of the dashboard.

Would be my guess it is your O2 sensor. Mine will foul from time to time. Just have to put miles on our car it will go off.

Yeah, I met a guy at the S2k meeting that works on BMWs, Mercedes and Porsches. He advised me that the new breeds of these Manufacturers are suffereing from various problems.

The 335i's fuel pump was one thing that he mentioned to me as a "stand out" as to why he chose his G35 over a 335.

It should just be a glitch, bring it back, they'll let you know for free. BMW is great for that!

this IS a BMW forum, so I won't comment...

But I can think of about 335 reasons how you are wrong...

Thanks you for the rerponses till now,

I took the car out for a 50 mile drive and did some Test.

First the Engine check light comes on only after the engine Revs up to 3000 RPM. ALso the temp is about 240-250

Also i noticed some wind noise When i was on the freeway . I did not expect to hear wind Noise and so i stopped and checked if all the windows and Roof seals were present (Rubber parts.). Again i tried opening and closing the Windows to make sure there were no openings . but again i started to hear the hissing wind noise when i was over 50 mph . I did not expect this.

GaryK1200330 : what do you mean i got the wrong tranny

Re: wrong tranny......
isn't that "D" on the dash representative of a self-shifting box?
As opposed to the "driver's" transmission?
(just kidding!)
LOL!

I'm with Stig on this one. The 335 is a nice car, but BMW didn't make it to its potential. ie, a proper sports coupe has a LSD

as far as any issues with the car, take it back immediately. Let the pros workout any issues.

Personally, I LOVE my new coupe, and I think anyone who would buy a G over this car must be ON LSD!!!
Unless you really like the low-rent interior, or the "rubber band" shifter of the G.
Or the horrible resale value. Or the WAY TOO EXPENSIVE service.
But hey......there's lots of cars out there, and I'm sure there's one for everybody. I hope your buddy's G is good to him, and that it makes him giggle the way the 3 does for me.
Every time I start it.

Update

Dropped it off at the Dealer yesterday. Today the Service manager called me to tell that there was a problem related to the turbo and he would let me know tomorrow morning the exact nature of the Problem and when i could get the car back.

don't feel bad they overfilled my oil so i brought it home parked it on an incline and had it puffing smoke. talk about panic.

went away. i guess the extra oil smoked itself :)

The dealer was very helpful i must say.

my CA was super friendly and responsive for this type of situation.
