Just pick this one up. Maybe a month before I get to tinkering with it but a good deal. Engine and drive train are all working. Has rust in usual places but no rust in the rockers. I couldn't open the trunk but most of it looks easy as far as rust areas. I am so excited!!!:luxhello:

Not sure yet. I'll have to check all my options and see what is most cost effective. It will most definately get a manual tranny. I might even turbo the thing.

Yeah I am not sure about the wing yet but the stupid Ractive muffler will have to go. I am excited to work on it but I have three cars I have to finish first before I get to it but like I said about a month and I will start tearing it down.

Here's my current one:

I recommend that you browse around this site for lots of great 2002 info and a very active forum:

The best event in the Southeast for vintage BMW's is coming up during memorial Day weekend. This will be my third year attending, and there's a caravan going from Atlanta IIRC. Here's the link:

Thanks. Are those clear corners? I hope to start some work on mine soon. Perhaps I'll have it ready for that weekend and I can bring it out. If not well, I have several other cars I could drive. I will check out that forum for sure.

The corners are half clear/half amber. They were standard on 2002's sold in Italy and are NLA. Bought them from an ATL area shop in a group buy organized about 5 years ago during an '02 meet at Grant Park.
Hope you can make it to Vintage at the Vineyards. You'll get a lot of ideas for your '02 there!

Fired it up today. Sort of! I figured out the coil was dead so I swapped one out of my 88' 325I and it worked. Uses different style of coil wire and the posts on the coil are a different size than the 2002's but it did work. Bad thing is that the battery was drained so I was charging it and that's when things went bad. That coil basically melted from the inside out. Kinda weird but no harm done just need to buy 2 coils now.
I have no idea how stale the gas is but that car had sat for a while before I got it. It did fire up and run a little but would sputter out and then shoot a geyser of gas into the air out of the carb.
Oh well. I probably shouldn't tinker until it has its garage space is ready. I have one clutch on the e36 to do first. After that it will be in for a while as I will break it down and label each part and later determine if it will need replacing. I will then go through that wonderful process of cleaning and removing cancer. Lucky for me my the cancer is at a minimum. A lift will help so I hope that the e36 will provide that in a month.
When I start this project I plan on heavily documenting the process and posting it here. Perhaps if I am lucky I will get so help along the way and in the end build a sweet ride.

Actually, upon better inspection from the inside, the pans seem pretty solid. The only spot is like an access cap or something like that, that is whats rusted. Now I really won't know the true condition of it all until I tear it apart but HarryPR gave me some great links to help find the goods. BMW02.de is sick! They have the most bad ass parts I have seen in one place. Check it out! I also joined 2002faq.com. Looks like a great site for 02 info.:mf_dribble:
