Hopefully, I'll be getting a 15000 dollar auto-loan . . ..
OH JEEZE!
I already know what I'm getting . . . .
I need a fast, fun, reliable, semi-sensible, easy to maintain, daily driver to supplement my Miata.
The Miata's a great car and will serve it's purpose for track use. However, daily driving will become more and more difficult, especially once that turbocharger goes on there and she starts failing emissions.
Dominic, I'm going to need a trailer and truck in the next year or so. Can I bunk with you? LMAO!
Just messing, but yeah, we'll see how that rocks out! As mentioned, I already know what I'm getting, no need on trying to convince me . . . . . Philip . . . .:001_wub:
^_^
A hint you say? It's yellow . . .fast . . . .rear wheel drive . . .and has interesting tail lights . . . in fact . . . .they kinda look like this . . .
http://media.automotive.com/evox/stilllib/honda/s2000/2007/2ca/44.jpg
I don't want to get my hopes TOO high as I still haven't gone to speak with them yet, but if everything works out and it all goes well this Saturday, we'll see me behind the wheel of YET another 2 seater vert!
MMMMMMM! GOODNESS!
LOL!

Have you driven an S2000?
I have . . .my friend has one, while it's NO BMW, it IS an Fing BLAST to drive . . .cornering at ANY speed, awesome pickup from 0- . . .well . . .where's that darn speed limiter again. NINE THOUSAND REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE REV LIMITER!!!!!
Almost impossible to oversteer . . .greatly approaches impossible to understeer . . .an extremely neutral car. Put the top down, leave the top up. It's truely a sports car that is fitting of being in the same class of several sports roadsters.
While BMW definitely has a better build, you can't deny it's sports sense. The S2000, plain and simple, is a driver's car. And, since it's from Honda, parts are plentiful, affordable and easy to place on the engine if/when you break something . . .which I know I will!

And if you need a small convertible, a MINI is the way to go. Say, a 2002 or 2003. Fast, small, reliable, and you'll still be related to all of us.
No Honda!!!! And more importantly, no loan! Be smart.

S2000 parts are on the same level as BMW parts if not a bit more costly. As are the aftermarket parts. I spent a lot of time looking up S2000 items about a year ago when I was looking to get one for myself.

True, but put the top down, put your shades on, smile at the girl next to you as you down shift and leave in a high revving blur . . .you guys seem to think that this car ISN'T a track car.
I'm here to tell you . . .I drove it . . .it's what a Miata would be if it had better suspension from the factory! This thing is a performer that still gets great gas mileage when you calm down. And it's built well . . .do us all a favor . . .take the Honda badge off the car and look at it again. Brand loyalty and bashing is one thing, but it seems that you guys are stuck on "Honda Hate" and not looking at the fact that it's one of the faster cars in it's class.
Catmint. . . .I like the Minis . . .especially the JCW which BMW of SA (acronyms much?) approved me for. I drove a MINI, they're remarkable . . . .very remarkable . . . .however. . . I'm not a front wheel drive fan. If they make an AWD MINI, I'd be all over it . . .
I think the only person that hasn't said something related to bashing a Honda is Wayne, he just thinks loans are stupid, which they are, but my credit looks like poo, and I need a way to get back into the grind of building my credit back to where it needs to be.

You're right, not going to lie about that, but, this car is only really going to need the basic maintenance parts, it won't be modified beyond maybe an exhaust/spring combo. It's going to be what my 540i was . . .a daily driver.
I dunno bro, you can't deny it's looks, you can't deny the fast that it will go on forever. To be honest, the ONLY BMW I can consider in its stead would be an E36 M3 or Z3. They are better cars for the price, but the S200 is just a great open air roadster that can really hold it's own.
I dunno, I really like em . . .whatever happened to getting what you want?

If you spend $15K on an S2K, just make sure that you're ok with getting your feelings hurt.
Why, you ask?
Because you know it's gonna sting when I stomp on your brand new 15 thousand dollar car in my 8 thousand dollar M3 that is not only faster but looks better too. Then I'll open my sunroof, turn off the air conditioner, give a high-5 to my 2 friends in the BACK SEAT and get on with my day.

/Agree, hate to say it but honda dose have a good track record on the miles you can put on one with out the big cost.
Think you should get what you want. The reason I did not get one last year is I have this flaw,...........I can not own a car and not mod it. I lust after HRE's, carbon fiber goodies, so on. After putting the money into my E36 thought it would be wise not to get one.
Good luck on your final choice.
I can say after 5 years with my E36, Pass on that idea. Go for a new or older model. There a great car but I have replaced a lot of my car(out side the mods), from windshield wiper motors to door locks.

I had contemplated getting a different marque after my 540i's demise. But, I knew that whatever I got, I would see a BMW go by and have wondered, "I should have", can you say Big Time Buyers remorse!
So, in the end I got something to get me around, not the fastest, sleekest, (I've had my share -- E46 M3, E36 M3, E34 540i/6, E39 540i/6, etc.), but it's still a BMW..:icon18:

Man oh man you can buy all sorts of cool stuff for $15k!! WOW you can get a REALLY nicely done M3 for that kinda money.
The S2k is sorta a cool car, but where in real life will you be using 9000 rpm? Your powerband is way at the top of the tach.
Maybe if you turbocharge it, then I will like the S2000.

"Haters"? How old are you again? LOL
Since you have a (presumably) fast car for the track, why do you think you need another fast one for the street? The crazy speeding belongs on the track, not on GA-400 or I-20. Even if you wanted to speed in Atlanta, the traffic usually impedes any chance of going above 55.
Be smart. Don't finance. Get an inexpensive, older BMW that will get you around town. Put your money into your race-car instead. Otherwise you'll keep starting new threads about how much you want a Bimmer.

well, bmw's are not reliable vehicles generally. hence why they go down in price like a rocket after purchase.
S2000 dominates SCCA racing when it was introduced. I think now it races against v8 mustangs etc.

First off, congrats on the loan. I am sure you are excited. I really like S2000's. They aren't too hard to oversteer in my experience. Get whatever you think you will enjoy. I think you will find it to be a lot more reliable than an e36 m3 but that will obviously get a lot of votes here. I would think about putting $2-3k with it and getting a 2000-01 M5. You should be able to find one with less miles but I would imagine that this guy would take $15k for this car (no affiliation):
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=237723640&dealer_id=61906321&car_year=2000&model=&num_records=100&make3=&make2=BMW&mod_bookmark_id=null&start_year=2000&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&only_price=1&search_type=both&distance=0&model2=M5&make=FER&keywords_display=&color=&min_price=1&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=30519&advanced=y&end_year=2006&doors=&transmission=&max_price=26000&cardist=645
Also consider an M Roadster - fun cars, good value.
Could do this:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=237880343&dealer_id=61919687&car_year=2001&model=&num_records=100&systime=&make3=&make2=BMW&mod_bookmark_id=null&start_year=2000&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&only_price=1&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&model2=M3&search_lang=&make=FER&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=1&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=30519&advanced=y&end_year=2006&doors=&transmission=&max_price=20000&cardist=462
Other things to consider - Porsche 993, An Elise with a salvage title, 99-01 E55, 00-02 Audi S4 with stage 3 kit (450hp), others I am sure.
Shopping is one of the best parts. Enjoy it.
