BMW Sauber’s private test of their 2008 car hit an obstacle in Valencia on Wednesday as rain and high winds limited the team’s programme. Race driver Robert Kubica was in charge of the newly launched F1.08 for a second day, while team mate Nick Heidfeld drove an F1.07 at the Spanish track.

With the poor weather preventing any meaningful test results, the German-Swiss squad focused their attentions on carrying out system checks over long runs and Kubica covered 105 laps during the course of the day. In the older car, Heidfeld completed 74 laps of set-up work with the new standard ECU.

Weather permitting, the team will be in action again on Thursday with testing hopeful Marko Asmer driving the F1.07B and Heidfeld out on track for his first proper run in the F1.08

Always a chance there going to race in the rain. So any testing not a waste. Hope this year is a good one.

Also there is no traction control this year. So wet weather driving is a skill these guys really need to have down.

Traction control has been banned from Formula One from the start of next year in a move supported by all teams and rubber-stamped by the FIA.
