How good is a E30 for drifting? I bet its pretty damn good, considering how light they are. The M5 could drift endlessly!

I heard that they are too short a wheelbase to be effective drift cars....

I keep hearing the same thing . . .HAHAHAHA!

They keep saying the same thing about Miatas, too underpowered, not enough torque, too small, too light . . .I'm concerned! LOL!

Well you can see for yourself, they E30s are very well balanced drifter machines. The 325, 325i and 325is are pretty much the same save for slightly differing engine tuning, mild suspension tweaks and the addition of the limited slip for the IS and ES models.

Overall, I have to say they are pretty much on par, if not better than, their Japanese counterparts. The parts bin is still pretty plentiful however the prices for maintenance and replacement parts do tend to be a little higher simply because of the name they carry.

You can see several E30s and other BMW models getting seriously sideways in this thread:

Dom is definitely our resident expert on E30 sliding. I wouldn't mind an E30 318is for drifting, that would be quite fun, high revs, near perfect balance, tail happy nature . . mmm . . it's all inclusive, HAHA!

the 84 318 is the lightest e30 bmw ever made :D

all i would do would be throw a little extra psi at the M10 and make her fly :D
