I'll admit that I'm guilty of making assumptions based on what someone drives.

This one's for Stig! "Just because Mazda Miatas are sort of cute, and women like them, doesn't mean the guy who drives one isn't manly. More likely, he's secure enough in his masculinity to enjoy his little convertible."

You've got the haircut, the clothes, a taste for obscure bands and obscure coffee blends. What car could possibly make the cut in that hip dictatorship you call a neighborhood?
Yes, I am the Darth Maul MINI Driver....

Uh, that was the quote for the "Urban MINI driver", the quote for the "Suburban MINI driver" was "Oooh, honey, isn't that just the cutest thing?"
You're suburban, sweetie.

I'm not much a Miata fan (sorry Stig I just don't like converts) but I do think highly of men that I see driving Mini's, and GTI's and similar type cars. A man who is confident enough to drive a small car must be confident in his manhood. I think less of men that I see driving Hummers and big trucks and SUV's. They are probably trying to overcompensate for something else...

Yup, I came up with a word that describes those types of vehicles (don't think I"m allowed to post it here ). And when it's a woman driving, then they're making up for their husband's, uh, shortcomings.
Of course, that's all just generalization, all in fun. :001_wub: The large SUV's are actually a lot of fun and very practical, especially on long trips.

Man driving Hummer = He is compensating
Woman driving Hummer = She is compensating for her husband
So basically, any time someone is driving a Hummer there is small penis involved?

That's the general consensus. (again, I"m not bashing Hum-vees, I really like them)
Then there's the other facet of what your car says about you, and we recently had this discussion on our MINI board. Around these parts, and you being in Paulding county surely have witnessed this phenomenon, there is a certain type of driver that feels the need to decorate his giant pick-up truck with, well, a facsimile of a certain body part. A certain pair of body parts, to be more precise. Talk about making up for something!

Or a big eloh $$a.
Moving on to another demographic, nothing says boring like a Honda Accord or worse, a Toyota Camry.
Or Lexus drivers - new money, no taste.

Ha! You got that right! Although, I can respect a Honda purchase, they're good reliable cars and if you aren't a car person that cares about style, it's probably the best choice.
But there's no excuse for a Camry. None whatsoever. Blecch!

I love those!!! They make me laugh every time I see them. I've considered getting a set for the M3 for the simple fact that they would drag and bounce down the road! hahahaha

lol, you guys are nuts. in the tuning community, honda's are considered to be the Dark Side because of how crazy you can make them for cheap. I love the new SI.
But I agree with perceptions that cars create for their owners. I drive a VW GTI. Most people ask me why I don't drive an SUV. I hate SUV's except where functional. I only like the real Hummer of all the Hummers out there. aka if you cannot attach a 50 cal machine gun to it as a factory option, it sucks.

Kind of similar story. I was at Ohio State Vs. Michigan in 2002 when they rioted in Columbus. A bunhc of poeple had started car fires in the middle of the street and were trying to knock a light pole over to throw it in. A guy drove up in an H1 and pushed the pole over and drove off. It was pretty sweet...

Eh, it's cool, I like my Micro Machine, it fits everywhere, is rear wheel drive, gets 35+mpg (well . . .when Dave drives it . . .when Stig drives it . . well . . 15mpg would be nice) and . . .ladies call it cute ^_^
Besides, it's the only car I've owned that makes MINI owners go . . .WOW . . .that's tiny . . .:luxhello:

I get fairly negative reactions to my GTI...mainly because people assume I drive aggressively...the car just looks fast. They're usually right.
People in my parking garage have commented about a big guy like myself driving such a small car (I'm 6'3" and 250lbs...). Then I show them how big the driver's compartment is and shock them.
At the end of the day, I drive what I drive because I like it. And I don't pay much attention to what people think. My GTI is a really nice car.

haaa ahaaa Dragon Ball....Z! That is brilliant!
My whole like I've been a die hard European car fanatic. I've always thought of Japanese cars as the darkside. Never liked em. Infidel and I have debated this for a decade.
I respect fast cars, I respect quality cars. Japanese cars just seem to fall short of quality. You can make anything go fast if you throw enough money at it.
This is why I am a DIE HARD BMW fanatic. Best of both worlds. Fast and built like a Pinzgauer.
