I am about to purchase my first Z3 and I wanted get some feedbackfrom you all. It's a 1997 2.8L with 90,000 miles selling for $9K. I have driven it a lot and it seems very smooth and very clean. One concern I have is in regards to one of the seals. I would call it a rear seal. If the top is up, its right below the rear window and it runs from door to door. I hope this description explains enough for you all to know what I'm talking about. I'm concerned because the seal comes off VERY easily. Should I be worried about this? Does it just need seal glue? Do I need the seal?
Any info would be of great help.
Lastly, I anted get some feedback from you owners about what problems you've had that I may want to be aware of before purchasing.
Again, any info is helpful.

Hi Pat, that sounds like the door weather seal? It will be important because water will certainly find it's way into the car. However, the seal is not that expensive. I can help you locate the seal if you want!

PatZ3,
Sorry just joined up on this forum, so "day late, dollar short" for me. Anyhow, what you're describing is not a door seal but the seal on the rear of the car between the convertible soft top and the metal of the car (if not, let me know). And yes, absolutely, that seal should be tight because it's about the only thing that'll prevent water from flowing off your soft top and into your Z3's interior. You might be able to reseal (depending on how bad), but I'd have it looked at by someone who knows what their doing since I suspect you'll need the seal replaced.
Cheers!

A water leak is hard to follow up. Get inside the car and have someone run water on the outside slowly.

Sorry for taking forever to repost. I had my computer stolen back when I posted that question.
So update, it was the seal behind the rag top. I had it replaced, not too much money, problem solved.
New problems - The drivers door handle is messed up a little. It doesnt always wat to open when you pull it up. I have to kinda push in while I pull up.
Other than that, I've fix alotoflittle things myself. I plan to post some pics this week to show you guys what she looks like.
Has anyone else ever had that "drooping" glove box? I did, I found some instuctions via google search, they were perfect instuctions, problem fixed for under $10.
Also, I'm looking for some nice chrome BMW rims to add some flashto ride. If anyone is selling or knows someone, please let me know.

Funny you should mention Chrome rims today --> See here (http://www.clubbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1812). Here's a preview:

And I got them here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-chrome-bmw-wheels-rims-3-5-6-7-8-m-z-series-330-540_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43958QQihZ022QQitem Z350016390694QQtcZphoto).
They are repros, but look and feel just like the real thing, yet at a significant fraction of the cost. And if you don't like that style, EuroTech sells several other types.
Glad you're back, sorry about the computer, but sounds like things are settling down. Don't know much about the door handle situation, haven't had an issue, nor have I really heard too many others with one. The Glove-box sag is a well-documented issue and I used the kit that's been around so long, they sell it on e-bay.
I heard a number of folks in the San Anton area are thinking of making it for the big Guiness record attempt in April (http://www.clubbimmer.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=113) followed by 4ngiefest (http://www.clubbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=654). Are you going to try to come? The more the merrier!:luxhello:
