I currently own two E28's and am about to trade my girlfriend's 2000 VW Beetle (FINALLY!!!) for a 1998 328is Coupe w/auto & sport package. I was wondering if this car was ever offered with remote keyless entry or if I would have to add an aftermarket system. The passenger side seat motors are shot on the forward and back function and I am not sure of the cost to replace these. The car and interior is an immaculate condition. I know this car has 193 HP, but I cannot find torque figures anywhere. Does anyone happen to know that as well? If you would like to see pictures, click here. The car was definitely offered with the remote entry option. Seat motors may not be too much second hand maybe through Strictly German. I want to say the torque is slightly less than the hp. Maybe 183. Somone on here will give you the exact figure.

So if the remote entry was it option, I'm guessing this particular car does not have it? Also it does not appear to have the cold weather package either so no heated seats. I want something reliable (not a Beetle for sure) that she can drive that is going to last for another ten years and not fall apart (once again NOT A BEETLE!!). I think this car is what I am looking for as I have read that the E36 is an extremely reliable car.

Its a good car. As always things to know are timing belt, water pump, damn leaky steering racks. You did say this was a vert. right? Should have heated seats as standard. The remote/alarm unit is usually mounted under the glove box. You can pick them up off ebay used decent price but try and find one with a fob otherwise you need to go to the dealer and get one.

Sorry, this one is an iS Coupe. Not convertible. Original post corrected.

Ok. No heated seats.
...So, were these not offered at all, or were they part of a cold weather package of some kind? Also, what features were added to the iS versus the i?

I am sure it was an option. I figure they offered the same options.
