Yeah, TG killed him off due to his (Perry Mcarthy's) book. In the book, he gives away his identity on TG as The Stig.

Now, that's just the rumor, he might have just been tired of driving and wanted to relax. LOL! He was definitely old enough to wish to take a vacation or two. Rumor has it, also, that he still does test drives as the "New Stig" and that there are 2 other Touring Car drivers (Perry Mcarthy is a Formula 1 and Rallaye driver)that help with the tests.
