At LSU, there appears to be no pause. Miles likely will go from a $10 million guarantee over five years to $15 million.

At LSU, a football team that finished 11-2 and ranked No. 3 in 2006 accounted for 63% of the school's athletics revenue for the year. It also accounted for a lion's share of the spending — more than $16 million — but turned an almost $32 million profit that helped underwrite the school's non-moneymaking sports.

Went to look for tickets to the BCS in New Orleans. Just about fell out at the price. I will stay at home and watch it on TV.
Think I should have looked into what it took to be a coach when I was in school.
32mil profit, darn good for a school.

My son happens to be friends with a kid who's dad is in the TV business and gets tickets to everything. He is taking our sons to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport on 12/30 (my son, like me, is an Alabama fan) and then to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans (they are big Georgia fans). I have no idea what the tickets cost him - all I know is that my son didn't ask me for any money (nor did he try and get extra tickets for me....).

I played for a Div 1-aa team and the prices for plane flights, meals, hotels, and everything else were staggering. While Ga. Southern is one of the top 1-aa teams in the country, I can only begin to imagine how much more the top tier teams pay on an annual basis. College football really is big business. YOu also have to remember, Boosters help fund a lot of what the teams do as well so it makes the athletic dept. that much more money.
