View Full Version : Temporarily Leaving The Bimmer World

You read right . . .David Adams . . .aka The Black Stig is temporarily shying clear of the BMW society until further notice. This isn't my ultimate resignation but more of a leave of absence. As Philip (with ONE L HAHA) once told me: I can't see myself not owning at least ONE BMW, so I have to get back into eventually. However, depending on how things go down tonight, I may be Sans-Bavaria until I get in a more financially stable situation.
Don't worry, I'll still be on the forums pissing off the locals and I'll still make it out to the meetings, I'll just be in something a little more Asian.
What is Stig getting?
Good question!
I'll let you know after I get it . . ^_^

Unfortunately for me, the same is true of MINI (BMW's cute little nephew). I am already missing my MINI, even as much as I love my E38. I guess I'll just have to have one of each some day. Then, my life will truly be over. A great BMW forum and local club and a great MINI forum and local club. I'll be doing events every weekend!!

Yeah, it's cool though, I'm not going far, just need to step back, resort what my priorities really are because currently I have my BMW at the top of the money chart and that's no good!
So .. . . once I get myself back on track, then it's definitely Bimmer time again, I love E34s, but I promised a certain someone that I'll buy an E36 M3 with him, so . . . .yeah!
Here's some pics of the car that I'll be picking up.

91 with a 95 engine and a torsen rear end, it's on Craigslist. The Miata is a cool car, I hope it doesn't take focus away from my Corolla. I still want that to be my track car, but my attention is easily dispatched into other areas.

Just looked at it. Errr, I'm not a fan of 1.6 cars running 1.8's. If you can find a '94+ you'll be better off. And, ditch the Hachi, you're WAY better off in the Miata. You'll spend WAY too much on the Hachi and get nowhere. Stay with a Miata and DRIVE!!!

True, I don't know, I like the challenge, I just want to get out there (for reasons that I'm sure you're aware of) and have some fun, I don't care if I have to just run with the stock engine and setup and just change the suspension, I want to get out there and just have a blast.
Maybe once the rough ends sort themselves out, you and I can have a sit down and you can show me the ways of the Miata life . . . .or not . . .LOL . . .up to you!

It's doing pretty good, I'm deciding on the 20 valve and natural aspiration or the 16 valve and boost . . . .I've seen 20 valve boost projects, but the money invested is so high that it doesn't seem worth it.
I'm going to play this one smart. With BMW, as Marty can attest, I spent so much time talking about modifications and spending money on maintenance items that I wasn't ever on the track with them, hopefully these two vehicles will give me the financial (and mechanical) freedom to get out there and just have some fun.

Yeah, the maintenace on the Bimmers is something you have to think about. I've probably got as much in my car since I bought it as what I paid for it. I can't imagine having to do that and then think about putting it on the track as well. I wish you luck with the new toys.

Thanks bro, that really means a lot! I know what you mean, I kept throwing caution to the wind, just saying, F' It . . . it's just money . . . that turned out to be my backfire, I mean, I make a decent amount, but I can't keep up with Bimmer racing without some serious sponsorship.
Oh well.

Try racing your Bimmer, let those costs float through your bank for a little while, then get back with me in a few months and let me know how things are going ^_^

Gah, Stig, first a Toyota then a Mazda? You got an identity crisis or somethin'?
Actually, the Miata is cute. Me, if I were going to get something that impractical, I would go with a Z3 or a Porsche of some sort. But that's just me. ;)

LOL! I'm getting away from the prices, parts and maintenance that is associated with those cars. The Miata is lightweight, nimble and the parts are well . . . .very cheap, LOL! If I could keep up with the premium gas prices, low gas mileage and ultra price of almost everything made for those vehicles, then heck yeah, I'd be all over it . . . .however . . .Stig is poor, sooo . . .Japanese vehicles it is.

LOL! That's cold! HAHAHAHAHA! Well, you have to figure, it's a Porsche, there's a reason why they are so revered. Those cars are awesome, but they have an awesome price-threshhold that goes along with them. I like the ease of maintenance and ease on the wallet of owning/driving Japanese cars, and yes . . .if you take a Porsche and hunt Miatas down on the highway, LOL! You'll win everytime . . .^_^
In the twisties . . . . .well . . . that all depends on the driver, but I think the ultra lightweight of Miata, I may have a slight advantage ^_^

Doesn't Flyin Miata make a nice little supercharger kit for it? I read about it and it got pretty good reviews, around 250 rwhp at eight or nine pounds of boost with no internal motor modifications.
