I am having my friend from The Racers Market hook me up. I have had a few different set-ups I've been thinking of, but I had a meeting with Brett and he feels confident in a twin set up. I have seem a few other people do it and they have said up to 500 hours. Crazy! Brett assures me it shouldn't be that bad. My other car is an Indy Street Car and the steering is 1:1 like a go-kart. I have seen other people interested in a quick steer convertion. Figure if there is any room left on that side of the engine bay, we'll stick on in as well. I'll keep you posted. It's going to be a LONG deal I'm sure. ENd all be all, 500 horse 850. Bout time:icon19:
If you are interested in a custom turbo set up for ANY BMW let me know. TRM are the guys helping me and by all means they are the gurus.

A twin-turbo'd 5.0L BMW V12? I bet that would end up being way more than 500hp.
I'd like to see that. :wet:

Dinan made like 4 or something, but people claim they could keep the heat down or something. We've had people talk to them about a group buy and they have no interest. A few other guys, one I know of in DC, have built there own and have done an impressive job. On guy used a twin supercharger Active Autowerks kit for a v10 M5 and hung it on the bottom. For the most part 8 guys are wierd. Not me so much in the same way, but they are super smart, engineer guys. Arguing over 5mm differences in ID cat pipe removale pipes should be They bought the car knowing it was not fast, but they like the complexity of the project. I've been trying to learn from what these guys have done. I at first way looking at a remote system, but Brett assures me that two up front should not be "that bad". More power to him! I'm hoping it won't kill my wallet, or what's left of it. Figured either I would have to sell it and spend another 10 grand on top to get a faster car, or just put the money back in the car I like. WIsh I could explain that to more of my customers. If you like something keep it! Instead of buying a car you dont really love, just make the car you have the car you want!

Excellent, so you're the guy I heard about having Mike design you the V12 setup. Couldn't have made a better choice ;)

It's like Kennedy said, don't have to be the best at everything, just know the people that are. Should be awesome project. Found out that two guys I know used to work for Downey Racing (thin LMP cars) and they have the vacuum mold and a role of carbon fiber. Hoping to put them to work on the hood. I am not body guy.

The project has begun! BMW 850 Twin Turbo
The first dyo pulls are in. Again, here is patient:
1991 M70 V12, ported\polished heads, full valve job, intakes and exhaust manifold gasket matched and cleaned up, Authority chips, Eisenmann exhaust with resonators removed, CSI clutch kit, 6 speed with UUC short throw shifter, 3.15 LSD, bla bla bla
It was a nice cold day in Atlanta and the numbers are in.
Rear wheel horse power: 256
Rear wheel torque: 286
Car was running rich, Authority chips. No tuning was done. This is just a base run to know what we are starting with. Cross your fingers, it’s about to get ugly.
keep in mind, this one is stock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rcOttE3tt8

Most likely we'll move to bigger injectors, custom tube headers to turbo flang, may have to go to porsche MAS systme, and the biggest part is the cusom EPROM chips. The guys working on mine have the ability to go into these OBDI cars and fully custom tune them. A lot of the problems people have with adding turbos is the piggy back computer system. Piggy back systems just trick the factory ECUs. That is why tuning becomes so hard and getting a smooth curve is difficult. We will be burning chips FOR the ECUs that a programed for turboed M70s. To make things even cooler, the EPROMS can have up to 8 batch programs. Meaning the new devices will allow 2, 4, or 8 different maps or functions to be added to the existing 413 platform.
Possible implementations include fuel trims, fuel type switches, varied rev limiters, valet mode, dry and wet maps, traction control, launch control, 2 step rev limits, and flat-shift.
The system is currently in the testing phase.
Think of it. Settings for low (7psi) boost for daily driving (4??horse) the flip the switch, add some octane booster, and crank up the boost to 12 and hit it. The possibilities are incredible.
I have know people with M3 to push 600 horse with stock bottom ends. I did some reading and the claim was that at 1bar the increase in load on your engine parts was only about 23%.
The largest reason people seem to have such problems is the tuning. You can' just blow 14 psi with some hugh injectors and pray.
Done right, cranking to 10-12 psi should be fine on the occation I think. May install water\meth injection if I plan to keep it around those numbers.

There are a few shops out there that will cut custom OBD1 Eprom chips. It's difficult, but not impossible.

I really like the idea of having a valet mode available.
