Over on bf.c, there is a member who due to some very unfortunate circumstances with his daughter's medical needs, has had to sell his car. He is over in PA, and has been around bf.c for a while. His name is George, and he has an amazing white e39 540/6 with a bunch of mods already (CAI, cdv delete, m3 short shifter, m-tech front bumper, p39s, the list goes on). there is a thread on the site for those wishing to donate to the cause as well (his 3-year-old daughter olivia has been diagnosed with a relapse of leukemia).

in any case, i thought id do my part and shop the car around to those i know who may want to buy it - and it turns out my dad loves the car. it has also been meticulously cared for, and has 98 percent of the mods that i could ever want to do. we have negotiated everthing, and we are waiting on the bank to send him the title in order to transfer it to us, at which time i will most likely fly up to PA one way and then drive it down to ATL. its with a heavy heart that we would be buying it, but knowing the money is going to a good cause makes it even more worthwhile. i am very excited for this car. as a bit of a teaser until i actually have it in my posession, here are a few pics:

(and yeah, i may want to bring this one to the next meet.....)

First, what a sad story. I really hope it works out for the little girl. I just cannot imagine going through that. :( I'm sure even though he loves the car he would trade it in a heartbeat if it meant his little girl gets better, so I'm so glad your father was able to buy it and help him out.

Second, congrats to you (and your Dad!) on the new car. It's incredibly gorgeous, I'm partial to the Alpine White E39s (wonder why?!). Can't wait to see it in person!

Do you think there's anything else this family needs? A care package of some sort? Mitch, could we send something as a group to help their holidays be a little happier? I'd be able to arrange collecting items and shipping to this family if there is any interest.

Nice car and find!! Unfortunate for his daughter, she's in our prayers..:(

I have seen that car on BF.c a few times, I believe it's GTP540's car. Here a link to his story, clicky (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=876402).

I'll trade you my Black/Black for that Alpine Goodness, Hoss!! :)

Regarding George and his family, there is a bf.c thread that I will link from here, which normally I would not do as it is kind of a conflict of interest, but since its a community thing and not forum specific i will do so. If you wish to send a get well card, christmas card, donation (through paypal) care package, or anything, you can find all the information you need here:

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=877783

simply make a post or PM BlackSapphire in order to get George and his family's mailing address and/or paypal info. every little bit counts. here is a picture of Olivia:

and a pic in the thread of george and his wife:

I have been in contact with George for the past few days and i know he is extremely grateful for any and all of the support from the BMW community. he is a very nice guy who is selling his baby to save his real baby. anything we can do to help is a tremendous benefit.

Yeah, mailing address, paypal address . . .I'm sure one of us can setup a paypal that he can link his own information to, that way we can start a donation fund or something.

no, not necessarily; sorry for the confusion - i had figured that most of us were already members at bf.c - and i didnt want to post his personal information but in either case...

TO ANYONE WISHING TO CONTRIBUTE IN ANY WAY:

Please PM me for either George's paypal info or mailing address. Anything you wish to contribute it a blessing, no matter its size. Even if its just a get well card, please do not hesitate. Thanks so much to everyone - I know George and his family will be incredibly touched and grateful.

Wow, really nice car...terrible story, hopefully it will all work out. Such a little girl doesn't deserve to go through that...

That's awful :( I'm going to contribute! My cousin had the same thing at age 2. He is thankfully alive to this day (at 18). I hope the same outcome comes for Olivia!

I know someone who may be interested in his car.
