I want to spruce up the garage, starting with the floor. I have seen some garage floors with ceramic tiles, vinyl tiles and just stained concrete. What about doing an epoxy coating? Anyone have any experience with doing this?

You can always get those snap-together tiles..I think it's called RaceDeck. An epoxy finish is great, but if it isn't done the right way it will lift and peel and look worse than bare concrete quickly.

When I build my garagemahol next year I will likely go with Epoxy.

In my old garage I epoxied the floor. It was really nice and I did not slip if I spilled something.

I would get the non-slip diamond-pattern plating stuff. I saw that in one Corvette owner's garage and wowee wow . . . that stuff is impressive, you can like, step IN the oil and you're not going anywhere. From what I hear, it's not that much more expensive than cementing, tiling or poxing your floor.

My son-in-law did a quick and relatively easy method for his garage. He painted it with a grey epoxy type material and as you do it you add "black speckles" to give it that industrial automotive look. Now that is not as exotic as the tiles or matting, but in addition to being quick, easy to apply and inexpensive, it is probably more durable.

I think Girotts Garage has it.

Mike's talking about my garage. It's called Rust-Oleum EPOXYShield Garage Floor Coating (http://rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=16) and I bought it at Home Depot. Easiest to use because you don't have to acid the floors first. I did a 3 car garage for under $100 3 years ago. It took me 2 hours to do it and it still looks very nice today.

You have to take a look at this site:

http://www.garagejournal.com/

It has a message board too. You'll want to spend lots of money after you take a look at some of the garages there...

My dad owned a epoxy company in chicago. Prep is number 1.

Yes I heard that prepping the concrete can take days to do right. YOu cannot leave any oil or grease down, or the epoxy will lift. I like Bill's idea, using Rustoleum.

I'd like to look into some large ceramic or stone tiles to lay down? That would look AWESOME! I am also considering that Epoxy paint.
