Wayne,

Thanks for arranging this trip. We had a great time. I'll post pictures in a bit once I get them downloaded. I thought Stig behaved himself well. I only saw the side of his car three or four times in my rear view mirror....

It was good seeing everyone else. I can't wait for the December meet!

Yeah I had an absolute BLAST! Man, it was nice being able to drive with everyone, heck, even Tim got a little goosy with the long-pedal-on-the-right when we had this Miata chasing us, he actually had my tires making some noise, very fun all in all and I can't wait to do it again!

I just hope that Miata wasn't the cause of the warning light I posted about in another thread. Hope I didn't break something....

Okay, pictures from the Winery Drive are in. This first set is from the drive itself. The scenery was great and the leaves were in full color.

He did fall asleep about the time we got back to 400. Slept most of the way home.

Thanks to wayne for doing all the legwork for the event, it was absolutely wonderful - the drive up was gorgeous, the roads were spectacular (yes stig, we need to do a 'no passenger' run on them at some point), and the company was great! jeanette and i really had a nice time.

also, thanks to the sponsors who donated to the raffle items, two of which i can proudly say i am the benefactor! so i guess i will be showing up at GCR and eurocar (tim, im going to steal the jacket from you and shrink it).

For anyone that is interested, I made a Quicktime Movie slide-show including a lot more pictures and a musical soundtrack. I can't upload it to the site, so I am trying to upload to Youtube. If you want the Quicktime file, PM me your email address and I'll send it directly to you. That way, you can watch it full screen on your computer.

That would have worked, as long as you kicked the tail out when conditions allowed. Can't drive in the mountains with out some spirit from the engine and rear wheels...

That is, of course, unless you're so used to driving a show car that you've completely lost all of your skill behind the wheel . . . .

Next drive, do I drive "Ethyl", the red E28, or Brutus, my 502hp, 1060 lb/ft Cummins diesel. The Cummins isn't much in the twisties, but lots of fun in a straight line, especially from 60-100:)

A-ha! But we could've gotten there a lot quicker with our trusty GPS (aptly named R2-E39). Of course, what fun would that have been?

Alan: Bring Ethyl! As long as you realize you will probably have to give rides to several of us. :) I'm assuming Brutus is a Dodge truck? (going out on a limb with that guess because I could be way off and become the laughing stock of ClubBimmer for the evening)

Cindy,
you got it:) Brutus is my work truck. One of my customers who shall remain unnamed still hasn't gotten over the fact that Brutus blew the doors off his 98 M3 (With a control unit upgrade & cold air intake) going up 400 from 60-110 mph. It wasn't a fluke, we ran 3 times in a row & I made up about 2 car lengths on him each time....
Its my benchmark, if I can make your Bimmer blow the truck away, I've achieved something (M5's & M62 cars not included, they will smoke the truck:icon18:)

Yup, we're going to do the same. We were talking about that on the way up to the winery. We did a run up to Amicalola Falls this summer with our MINI group and somebody filmed the entire trip and posted it online at a fast speed (so instead of taking an hour to watch it, it took like 7 minutes). It was soooo cool to watch. (We were even able to pick out the stretch of road where Lil' Bimmer's frapaccino made a second appearance; twisties and strawberry shakes don't mix well.)
