Has anyone ever noticed when chewing mint gum, that cold water is SUPER COLD? Is there some property in mint that cools liquids or something? Is it just because of the mint oil? WTF? Am I losing my mind again?
Does this happen to anyone else? Do I have a tumor?

I know what you mean. It's something I've always wondered.

It's mentholyptus, it's the same thing (in stronger concentrations of course) that makes air feel super cold when you inhale deeply while a Halls cough drop is in your mouth.

All I do is count gum everyday. Rarely chew it anymore either. Not sure how the different flavors give different sensations. Wrigley has been developing a gum with Viagra. It might give a different sensation. http://planetsmilies.net/obscene-smiley-7189.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)

there is a chemical in it similar to alcohol in it that evaporates very fast(pulls heat away fast) thus making everything feel cooler.
same kinda stuff is in shampoo to give you "that tingly feeling", which is actually drying your head out.

Yeah I hate that feeling. Way to cold for me. And I think the Viagra gum would be something to have fun with. I would def. end up handing it out to my friends at the bar...Without them knowing of course.
